Mate poaching is a robust phenomenon and is here to stay. When single women see a moderately attractive man, they are more interested in him if they believe he is already in a relationship! In fact, a considerable study found that 90 percent of single women were interested in a man who believed it had been taken, while only 59 percent wanted it when they told him he was single.
According to my conversations and observations, the provision of basic needs is one of the main reasons why women tend to prefer married men to single men. Married men are safer sources of financing for women because they can meet their needs. In some cases, women find love and company in their relationship with these men. Age, single men who don’t want to settle down, the maturity of married men and experience, among others, are also reasons why single women prefer to date married men. I think that men, on the other hand, generally get involved with several women to satisfy their desires for the company, among other reasons. Sex is often the exchange for money, gifts, and exits that women receive from married men. While some women end up marrying single men and start their own families, some of these women end up as “mother moms,” since the relationship does not always lead to marriage, while others end up as minor wives in polygamous homes.
Is it because a man who is already taken has more experience? Is it seen as able to compromise? Is it more desirable because another woman has previously selected it (while single men are unknown products)? For some, the food on someone else’s plate always seems tastier. If someone else wants it, it must be worth it.
There is no simple answer. Remember, too, that some traditional types may want happily ever after emotional availability and financial security, while others may pursue less than the full enchilada of marriage and children. Contradictory as it may seem, you might want more than a one-night adventure, but less than a full-time boyfriend who is only yours and her alone. Because for some single women, a relationship with a married man gives you a break. You are not responsible for him if you want to see a previous friend or lover.
How Good-Looking Your Spouse Is
The stock of a taken man seems to be driven not by his own good looks, but by the attractiveness of his partner. The study found that when people combined with a more attractive couple, the effect of copying the couple’s choice was strengthened. So, the good news is that you got married out of your league. The bad news is that this makes single women wonder if they missed something when they gave you the chance.
They Ultimately Still Respect the Ring
When the researchers asked a series of questions later, women reported that men without alliances were more attractive than married men. And when asked who they would prefer to dine with, have sex, start a relationship or invite home, the men without a ring won in all four domains.
