6 Signs Something’s Up With Your Vagina

Instead of complaining about menstruating and suffering during childbirth, we ladies should thank heaven for being fitted with vaginas.

Honestly, a vagina is like its own little town there, and although they are all different, they are all self-cleaning and heal quickly and have the ability to tell you what is going on inside your body. PRETTY cool dang!

6 Signs Something’s Up With Your Vagina

1. It feels dry

Unfortunately, most of us will suffer from this at some point in our lives, but it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Some reasons for vaginal dryness include; infection, stress, douching or new medication, so if things haven’t been feeling, er, lubricated in a while you should visit your GP to find out what’s going on.

2. Your discharge is a funny color

Discharge is a sign that your vagina is cleaning itself, but only if the discharge is white or cream in color. Cloudy, bloody, yellow or greenish discharge, can be a sign of anything from bacterial vaginosis to a yeast infection or an STI. It’s best to take a trip to your gyno to find out the root of the problem.

3. There’s a burning sensation

A burning sensation in your vagina is the number one sign of a yeast infection. Luckily, it can be cured within a few days with an anti-fungal prescription from your doctor.

4. Something smells off

We’re not talking about a little pang after you haven’t showered for a day or two, we’re talking about a recurring pong even when you’re at your cleanest. First things first; check if you forgot to take a tampon out before you go anywhere near a doctor. Once that’s done then you can start exploring the other reasons for the nasty smell. Reasons could include excess sweat, your diet or new medication, but your doctor will be able to tell for sure.

5. You’ve got abnormal bleeding

Most of us will experience bleeding in between periods at some stage in our life (As if our periods weren’t enough, right?!) and although most of the time abnormal bleeding can be a result of something as simple as a missed pill or extra stress, it’s best to head to your GP to rule out something more serious. If your lady flow has been all over the place recently, make sure to jot down the dates before you make your appointment.

Sex shouldn’t feel sore, but if doing the deed is feeling consistently painful it’s important you seek the help of your gyno. It may be down to an underlying condition, many of which can be treated with either a dose of antibiotics or a vaginal lubricant.
